Why do I need the “Copy url button”?

The Copy url button plugin enables you to create some nice, social media like, backlink buttons using shortcodes.
Add these buttons to posts and pages and make it easy for visitors to link to the content they like.

How does this plugin work?

After installing the Copy url button plugin you can create some nice, easy to implement, backlink buttons.
You have the following options to create your buttons

Inside the post editor:

[copyurlbutton]

= Default display (Like a social button including count).
Live example: [copyurlbutton]

[copyurlbutton size='small']

= Small display
Live example: [copyurlbutton size=’small’]

= Default display (Like a social button including count).

= Small display.

Using the WordPress interface:

  1. Login to your WordPress website
  2. Click  on “Plugins”.
  3. Click on “Add new”.
  4. Search for this plugin, type: “Copy URL button”.
  5. Click on “Install Now”.
  6. Enter your FTP login credential (provided by your hosting provider).
  7. Click on “Proceed”.
  8. After the plugin is installed, click on “Activate plugin”.
  9. Add the shortcode to your posts or pages.

Using FTP:

  1. Download the plugin: Copy URL button.
  2. Extract the plugin folder (copyurlbutton) from the zip archive.
  3. Login on your server with FTP and navigate to the directory “wp-content/plugins”.
  4. Copy the folder (copyurlbutton) into the plugins directory.
  5. Login to your WordPress website.
  6. Click on “Activate plugin”.
  7. Add the shortcode to your posts or pages

    Thanks for the response, have you consider making a pro version of the plugin, that has the updates? If you do please let me know :)

    I notice the plugin hasn’t been updated in 2 years, is it dead? It looks really promising, I try installing it but, the button doesn’t displays.

      Hi Jacquie,

      To be honest I haven’t had the time to update the plugin. Be it still works pretty well. To get the plugin to display the link button you can embed the WP shortcode inside a post or add the function to your theme file.
